Ubud is famous as an arts and crafts hub. Creativity is everywhere, from pura (temples) to palaces, galleries to gardens, with shops and handicrafts and lovingly decorated shrines. There are some remarkable architectural structures and other sights to be found. Moreover, there is a general feeling of well being to be enjoyed by all, thanks to the spirit of UBUD, its surroundings, and climate of the place.

The town and nearby villages consist of artists’ workshops and galleries. There are plenty of big art museum and art galleries with a rich collection of local, Indonesian and global works, such as:

  • Neka Art Museum
  • Antonio Blanco Museum
  • Komaneka Fine Art Gallery
  • Agung Rai Museum of Art (ARMA)
  • Putrawan Museum of Art (PUMA)

Ubud is noted as one of the more traditional towns in terms of maintaining the tenets and manifold observances of Hindu. Everywhere you look, you will see ceremony, ritual and sacred offerings.

There are many temples in Ubud where they hold variety of festivals, special prayers and observances of particular holy days. There are a few events and ceremonies that will be held during November and December 2015:

  • Nusa Dua Fiesta
  • Besakih Temple Piodalan Anniversary
  • Ulun Danu Beratan Temple Piodalan Anniversary
  • Penampahan Galungan
  • Galungan
  • Umanis Galungan
  • Batukaru Temple Piodalan Anniversary

Ubud is home to some fabulous restaurants and cafes. Nowhere else in Bali is the diversity in restaurants as broad and the general quality as high as in Ubud. Whether you are looking for a quick cheap snack or you are looking for an eight course menu, Ubud has quality options.

Our personal recommendation are:

  • Made Becik
  • Naughty Nuri’s Warung
  • Melting Wok
  • Locavore
  • Taco Casa
  • Warung Garasi
  • Jendela
  • Rouge Lounge and Sushi Bar
  • Man Maru Japanese Restaurant
